Do not fall for the claims made by some institutes

The entrance coaching business is competitive and there are many unscrupulous players. You are surely concerned about your child’s future and wish that he or she should join the course of his/her choice in the best institute. Before you decide that a particular institute can best ensure your child’s success, you should be aware of some facts and make the right decision.

Read the details. The list of Top 5 colleges that these institutes publish will have a couple of the top colleges followed by some unknown ones. Read the reviews on these unknown colleges. You may think twice about putting your child in one of them. These coaching institutes have tie-ups with the colleges. Students will be offered admission in these smaller colleges and should anyone choose to join, the fees will be exorbitant. Technically, the institute may have got your child admission in one of the “Top 5” colleges but do you really want to send your child there?

They may even offer a cash prize if you can prove that some other coaching institute has had more successful students. And they may be correct. But consider that this is the total number across their network. With 50-100 centres, high total number of successful students is a no-brainer. What they don’t tell you is how many students they coached in total. In essence the pass percentage in such institutes is less that 10% and sometimes close to 3-5%. That is from 100 students, just 3 or 5 get admission in a premier college. Compare this with the 25-100% pass percentage at DQ Labs and decide wisely.

Rank 1, Rank 2, Rank 3 etc. And they will have the photos of the students too. Except that if you look across different coaching institutes you may find another institute claiming the same students at the same ranks! How does this happen? If you ask the institute one will say that the student took their classroom training while the other will say he did the online training and a third will say that he did the mock tests.
