There is the GAT (General Aptitude Test) which is an objective type test and asks questions in the following areas of quantitative ability, communicative ability, English, analytical ability, general knowledge and current affairs.
The CAT is the Creative Aptitude Test which is very subjective and puts the candidate’s artistic abilities to the test.
The situation test happens after the GAT and CAT where, the candidate is asked to make a three dimensional model with the materials they provide.
Nift focuses on mainly on apparel and offers courses like fashion design, leather design and accessory design and fashion communication, whereas NID focuses on animation design, graphic design product design and exhibition design.
One can prepare for the NIFT exam by visiting a good coaching institute such as DQ Labs where information is collected on each year’s question papers and students trained accordingly.

The scores are not valid for any other college in India, apart from multiple courses in design technology and management across 15 NIFT Campuses.
A score ranging between 75-85 will guarantee the candidate a good rank.
The highest rank bagged by a student in DQ labs is AIR 2 in the NIFT exam 2018, the rank holder opted for Bachelor’s of Design.
