How does one get into NIFT?

The final step in order to secure admission in M.Des, M.F.Tech & M.F.M programmes offered at different NIFT campuses is to appear for the Group Discussion & Personal Interview. NIFT Entrance Exam is a two-tiered process, wherein, aspirants need to give CAT (Creative Ability Test), GAT (General Ability Test) followed by the Group Discussion & Personal Interview

NIFT Exam consists of the following:

1. Round 1: Written Test

• General Ability Test (GAT) – M.F.M & M.F.Tech applicants
• Creative Ability Test (CAT) – M.Des applicants only

2. Round 2: Group Discussion / Interview

• Group Discussion and Personal Interview – For M.Des, M.F.Tech & M.F.M Applicants only

Each of these is described below:

Group Discussion / Personal Interview:

Shortlisted candidates for Masters Programs from the written entrance exam are required to undergo Case Study based Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

Group Discussion would comprise approximately 15 to 20 minutes for discussion on a case study assigned, for which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on various parameters including Conceptual clarity, Knowledge of the topic assigned, Contribution made to the topic, Interpersonal skills, Ability to generate new ideas, Problem-solving approach, Leadership qualities, Effective communication.

In the personal interview, candidates will be evaluated based on the various parameters such as career orientation, aptness for the course, overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities, communication, general awareness, aptitude, creative and lateral thinking.
